The ISSCT Agronomy Workshop was hosted by

The Federal University of Uberlândia, STAB and APTA, hosted the VIII ISSCT AGRONOMY WORKSHOP of the International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ISSCT) which was held in Uberlandia/MG (Center Convention) from the 24-29 May 2009.
The general theme of the Workshop was “Sugarcane production: integration among sugar, alcohol, residue cycling and sustainability” and the objective of the meeting was to bring together academia, researchers and industrial specialists who presented their latest scientific findings, and discuss issues pertaining to sugar cane production throughout the world.

The 8th ISSCT Agricultural Engineering Workshop organized jointly by Argentina Society of Sugar Cane Technologitsts (SATCA) & Agroindustrial and Canegrowers Societies and Research Institutions was held in the City of San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, from 3 to 7 September 2006 with a Pre-Workshop sightseeing Tour on 2-3 September, a Post-Workshop Technical Tour on 8-9 September, and a final sightseeing tour on 10 September.
There were 51 participants from 14 countries.

The First Workshop of the Management Section was held at KwaShukela Building, Mt. Edgecombe, Durban, South Africa, from
11 – 14 July 2006 and was very well organized by South African Cane Growers Association.
There were 41 participants from 10 countries.

This Management Workshop was also used as a focal point to bring together CEOs from major research organisations to brain-storm common issues (coordinated by Eoin Wallis, CEO of BSES, Australia), as well as to provide a platform for the first meeting of the International Sugar Cane Biomass Utilization Consortium (ISBUC), coordinated by Peter Rein, Director of Audubon Sugar Institute, USA and Jean Claude Autrey, Director of MSIRI, Mauritius.

The ISSCT Processing Workshop was held at Lod Cook Conference Center, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge LA , USA, from 29 May to 1 June 2006 and was very well organized by Audubon Sugar Institute of the LSU AgCenter, under the auspices of the American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ASSCT).
The participation was exceptional, with 84 delegates from 19 countries.

The VIIth ISSCT Agronomy Workshop was held in Khon Kaen, Thailand, in May 2006 and was attended by 52 members from 16 Countries together with several observers from the host country.
There were 29 oral presentations during six sessions covering the different topics of the main theme, including two keynote addresses: a review of four decades of sugar cane nutrition and one promoting a participative approach for integrated plant nutrition. There were also 12 posters and two days of field trips, including a visit to the Khon Kaen Field Crops Research Centre. At the end of each session there was a discussion on the topic covered.

The 6th ISSCT Entomology Workshop was organized by BSES Limited and was held in Cairns, Australia (14-20 May 2006).
The Workshop was designed primarily to look at advances in sugar cane pest management and the challenges that changes to world sugar industries will bring to sugar cane pest management. It was a showcase of the Australian approach to the management of whitegrubs in sugar cane.
